Catherine
Catherine follows the story of Vincent Brooks, who is caught between his girlfriend Katherine McBride, who may be pregnant, and Catherine, a 22 year-old blonde he met at the Stray Sheep, a bar he hangs out at. Since his encounter with Catherine, Vincent has been having nightmares every night. The nightmares are puzzle-platforming sections shaped as tower-like levels in which Vincent must climb to the top by pulling and pushing blocks. While he climbs, the level falls apart, and sheep characters try to shove him back down. Along the way, the player can learn various climbing strategies to adapt to different situations. In some levels, a giant boss tries killing Vincent with a multitude of attacks. -

In this bar, he can send and receive text messages, drink, talk to people or play an arcade game called Rapunzel (a series of 8-bit-like short climbing levels) until he goes back to sleep. When Vincent has to make choices, a blue and red gauge appears. This gauge indicates whether Vincent is more inclined towards law or chaos, which will influence the game's ending. Apart from the story mode, there is Babel, a special challenge in which one or two players have to climb as high as they can to achieve new records. Babel must first be unlocked by meeting certain conditions in story mode. -
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows
A series of eight lengthy vignettes expanding and elaborating on the story of the 2011 cult horror classic “Corpse Party.” Join the Kisaragi High students once again as they relive the unearthly horrors of a cursed school, this time armed with future memories in a vain attempt to alter their own grisly fates. Witness, too, several crucial incidents that occurred during or before the previous game’s events then, delve deeper into the mysteries of Heavenly Host as survivors from Corpse Party investigate an even more horrifying location in a desperate search for answers. First-person point-and-click adventure style gameplay, binaural 3D audio with original Japanese voices (including reprisals from all main cast members), dozens of endings, a “Darkening” system that slowly distorts both the game’s visuals and its characters’ decision-making abilities, and a host of unlockable extras make this a must-play for Japanese horror aficionados and series fans alike. -

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic
Dark Messiah: Might and Magic is a first-person action game set in the medieval age so instead of guns you use swords, bows and magic to defeat your enemies. As you progress through the story you obtain skill points which you can invest in one of three skill trees called Combat, Magic and Stealth. How you skill Sareth directly influences the combat in the game. You can either play like an assassin and backstab your enemies to oblivion or make him a perfect sword-fighter who can use different combos to take out his enemies for example. But you can also use your environment to make your kills. There're countless items you can lift up and throw at your enemy or you can light up your arrow on a campfire nearby to inflict more damage. You can also make good use of your foot and kick your enemies off cliffs or kick them into spikes that come out of the wall or use other traps that are scattered in the levels like bringing a statue to a fall. The main innovation in Dark Messiah is the so-called Body Awareness System. This basically means that Sareth is a real part of the world like every other NPC. This makes not only the whole combat more intense because your whole body moves with every sword-swing you make but the NPCs can interact more directly with you. For example a Orc can take you by your neck and throw you through the room. -

Dragon's Crown
Dragon's Crown is a 2013 action role-playing game developed by Vanillaware for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The game was published in Japan and North America by Atlus and in PAL regions by NIS America. A high-definition port for PlayStation 4, Dragon's Crown Pro, was released by Atlus in 2018. Players navigate environments from a side-scrolling perspective, choosing from six character classes to fight in the style of a beat 'em up and acquiring loot through repeated dungeon exploration. The storyline follows adventurers as they journey across Hydeland and become involved in the search for the magical Dragon's Crown. Director and lead artist George Kamitani originally planned Dragon's Crown as a Dreamcast sequel to the 1997 Sega Saturn title Princess Crown. Following Vanillaware's successes with Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Kamitani restarted the project. Originally set to be published by UTV Ignition Entertainment, that company's withdrawal from the gaming market led to Atlus taking up the project. Upon release, Dragon's Crown received positive reviews from critics, who praised its gameplay and art style, while the story and repetitive elements drew criticism. The game also generated controversy for its exaggerated character designs and sexualized female characters. It had sold over one million units by September 2017. -
